Stand Up Paddle Boarding (or SUP) is great craic! The Life Adventure team think it’s one of the most fun ways to explore the stunning Castlewellen lake.

With its calm waters, the lake is a near-perfect location for first timers. And for the more experienced SUP’er there’s also plenty to explore and test your skills… SUP boarding ticks all the boxes – it’s fun, exciting and enough of a challenge that you’ll have some great stories to tell! How To Find Us

By Car:

Head south on the A24 from Belfast, following signs for Newcastle.
Continue on the A24 for about 20 miles.

Switch to the A50:

After passing through Ballynahinch, continue on the A24.
At Clough, take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A50 towards Castlewellan.

Arrive in Castlewellan:

Follow the A50 into Castlewellan.
Continue on the main road until you see signs for Castlewellan Forest Park.

Enter The Forest Park:

Follow the signs into Castlewellan Forest Park.
Once inside, follow the signs to The Grange Court Yard.
The drive takes about 50 minutes, depending on traffic.

By Bus:

From Belfast to Castlewellan:

Take the Translink Goldline Express bus 520 from Belfast Europa Buscentre to Newcastle.
This journey takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

From Newcastle to Castlewellan:

From Newcastle, take the Translink bus 34 or 34a to Castlewellan.
This leg of the journey takes about 15-20 minutes.

Walking to The Grange Court Yard:

Once you arrive at Castlewellan, it’s a short walk to Castlewellan Forest Park.
Follow the park signs to The Grange Court Yard.

Train from Belfast to Newry:

Take the train from Belfast Central or Belfast Great Victoria Street to Newry. The journey takes about 1 hour.
Bus from Newry to Castlewellan:

From Newry, take the Translink bus 240 to Castlewellan. This journey takes about 50 minutes.
Walking to The Grange Court Yard:

Once you arrive in Castlewellan, follow the signs to Castlewellan Forest Park and The Grange Court Yard.
