  • Go SUP Boarding: With the top of the range SUP Boards on the sheltered waters of Castlewellan Lake this is a must-try for adventurers of all ages and abilities.
  • Go Kayaking: With calm and sheltered waters, Castlewellan lake is a wonderful playground for all abilities. Sit on kayaks are safe, stable and easy to use! You’ll get the hang of them and be out exploring the lake in no time.

How To Find Us

By Car:

Head south on the A24 from Belfast, following signs for Newcastle.
Continue on the A24 for about 20 miles.

Switch to the A50:

After passing through Ballynahinch, continue on the A24.
At Clough, take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A50 towards Castlewellan.

Arrive in Castlewellan:

Follow the A50 into Castlewellan.
Continue on the main road until you see signs for Castlewellan Forest Park.

Enter The Forest Park:

Follow the signs into Castlewellan Forest Park.
Once inside, follow the signs to The Grange Court Yard.
The drive takes about 50 minutes, depending on traffic.

By Bus:

From Belfast to Castlewellan:

Take the Translink Goldline Express bus 520 from Belfast Europa Buscentre to Newcastle.
This journey takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

From Newcastle to Castlewellan:

From Newcastle, take the Translink bus 34 or 34a to Castlewellan.
This leg of the journey takes about 15-20 minutes.

Walking to The Grange Court Yard:

Once you arrive at Castlewellan, it’s a short walk to Castlewellan Forest Park.
Follow the park signs to The Grange Court Yard.

Train from Belfast to Newry:

Take the train from Belfast Central or Belfast Great Victoria Street to Newry. The journey takes about 1 hour.
Bus from Newry to Castlewellan:

From Newry, take the Translink bus 240 to Castlewellan. This journey takes about 50 minutes.
Walking to The Grange Court Yard:

Once you arrive in Castlewellan, follow the signs to Castlewellan Forest Park and The Grange Court Yard.

When preparing for outdoor activities like kayaking, biking, and other adventures, it's crucial to wear moisture-wicking base layers to stay dry and comfortable, and to avoid cotton.

Footwear should be sturdy and appropriate for the activity, such as water shoes for kayaking and cycling shoes for biking. Dressing in layers, including a windproof or waterproof outer layer, allows you to adapt to changing weather conditions.

Essential accessories include a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand to ensure you're on time for you adventure.
