The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway

Book now from £9.00

The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway has closed for 2024. Tickets for 2025 coming soon!

For a unique steam railway experience in the UK, consider a journey on the Lynton & Barnstable Railway. A new way to take in Dartmoor's stunning scenery.

Ride in the UK's only Victorian carriage

Lovingly rebuilt and run almost completely by volunteers, Lynton & Barnstable is the only steam railway in the UK where you can travel in restored heritage carriages designed in the 1890s for the lines Victorian passengers.

Explore Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks

You'll board the train at Woody Bay station. You'll enjoy a two-mile round trip to Killington Lane and back. The journey takes around 25 minutes, and you'll enjoy unrivalled views of wild moorland and rugged coastline.

The line visitors enjoy today is just the beginning of a passion project to rebuild one of the world's most famous and picturesque narrow-gauge railways.

More than a railway, visitors can learn about the trains and transport systems of the past and their effect on the rural communities living in the most remote and wild corners of Dartmoor.

Refuel with food and drink at the Station Tea Rooms

The Station Tea Rooms is the perfect place to stop off and refuel. They offer loads of hot and cold food and drink options, including sandwiches, sausage rolls and pastries. You can take these away to enjoy on the journey or at one of the onsite picnic benches.

For train lovers big and small a ride on the Lynton & Barnstable Railway is an unmissable day out for all the family!
