"We must hurry, we have so much time and so little to do!" - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

What's On at Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre in Great Missenden?

Enter through the Wonka gate in Great Missenden and get ready to explore three jam-packed galleries, filled with things to see, do, discover and explore! Get hands-on in interactive galleries, enjoy family-friendly activities and immerse yourself into the world of Roald Dahl.

  • Boy Gallery: Step through the chocolate-scented (yes, chocolate-scented!) doors and discover how some of Roald Dahl's childhood experiences inspired his stories. Rummage through his rucksack, listen to stories of his school pranks and dress up in a replica of Dahl's school uniform.
  • Solo Gallery: Get up-close to the centerpiece of the Museum, Roald Dahl's Writing Hut! See props and costumes from film and tv adaptations, peek in drawers and explore this irreplaceable location.
  • The Story Centre: Get hands-on with interactive, creative activities! Become inspired by Dahl and create your own rhymes, invent new characters or concoct some swashboggling sentences! You also have the chance to direct a stop-motion animation, dress up as your favourite character or take a picture in the replica writing chair.
  • George's Crafty Kitchen: Pull up a chair in George's Crafty Kitchen and pick up some craft sheets, colour, cut and decorate until your heart is content!
  • Courtyard: Visit the delightfully-secluded courtyard and grab some fresh air in the heart of Roald Dahl country. Can you spot all 17 Quentin Blake illustrations?
  • Wondrous Woods: Treat your senses to a world of fun with a visit to the Wondrous Woods and see if you can guess all five books in the woodland!

Feeling peckish? Head to the Filling-Station - it's Scrumdiddlyumptious!

Refresh and refuel yourself with a trip to the Filling-Station in the Courtyard! Serving locally-sourced coffee, chocolate and tea, you can enjoy a sit-down in the fresh air with a delicious beverage in-hand.

If you need some food in your belly like Bogtrotter then don't worry - the Filling-Station also offers sweet treats, cakes and sausage rolls!

We hope you've brushed up on your gobblefunk, because you'll probably need it when you visit the Roald Dahl Museum!

After seeing all there is to see, there's little doubt that some of that creativity will rub off on you as you wait for your next big adventure at the Roald Dahl Museum.
