Throughout the February half-term, we have a variety of activities planned at the Black Gate and Castle Keep. Check the schedule below to see what's happening during your visit! Please note that all activities are subject to staff or volunteer availability.

Saturday, 22nd February

• Victorian Sunday School: Discover the Sunday School held in the Lower Hall of the Keep in the 1800s with our Victorian school mistress.

Monday, 24th February

• Free Guided Tours: Join our staff for short (45 min) guided tours of the Castle Keep throughout the day.
• Family-Friendly Crafts: Visit the Harbottle Suite for a variety of family-friendly craft activities.

Tuesday, 25th February

• Knight School: Learn combat skills with one of the Castle's knights! Enjoy sword training with foam swords and handle real weapons and armour.
• Family-Friendly Crafts: Visit the Harbottle Suite for a variety of family-friendly craft activities.

Wednesday, 26th February

• Civil War Training Day: Learn about the Civil War siege of Newcastle, handle real and replica weapons, and train with a pike.
• Family-Friendly Crafts: Visit the Harbottle Suite for a variety of family-friendly craft activities.

Thursday, 27th February

Plague Doctor: Meet the super friendly Plague Doctor and learn about the fascinating and bizarre medicine from the days of the plague!

All activities are included with an annual pass to Newcastle Castle, which must be purchased separately. No booking is required for these activities—just drop in and enjoy! Donations are always welcome and are reinvested into the charity to help us continue providing fun, free activities for our visitors and supporting our educational programs.
