The Greenfield Valley Museum
After exploring the ruins in the Valley, why not find out more at the museum. Set up in the 1980s, the museum focuses on Greenfield’s farming and industrial past.
Renovated in 2016 with up to date colourful displays and interactives, the museum is a great way to find out more about the surprising importance of Greenfield as a centre of industry.
There are also many historic farm buildings to explore. Find out what life was like for a Tudor farmer and his family.

At just over a mile long and with ancient monuments scattered throughout, the Greenfield Valley has a lot to offer. Starting at either end, St Winefride’s Well or Basingwerk Abbey, the Valley affords spectacular walks through shady woodland beside the ancient Holywell stream.
Once home to industry, noise and pollution, it is now a haven for wildlife. The many pools left by the factories attract numerous bird life and mammals. Kingfishers, Yellow Dippers, Swans, Badgers and Foxes all make the Valley their home.

It’s just down the road from the A55, and the main coastal road (A548) provides easy access from the M56 and other major motorways. If you’re coming from Liverpool or Manchester, it’s only an hour’s drive away

The nearest train station is in Flint, which is close to Greenfield Valley. You can easily reach the train station via local bus routes, with stops near the valley for you to start exploring.
