Go Ape has two amazing activities to choose from in the beautiful Dalby Forest:
- Treetop Challenge: This course is a high one – you’ll find yourself 35 metres up in the air so bring your head for heights. Whether you're pushing yourself to the max or just finding your feet, Go Ape Dalby Forest always delivers! Suitable for anyone over 1.4m tall and aged at least 10 years old.
- Treetop Adventure: Get your blood pumping as you race up tall trees and clamber over crossings, navigating your way across the Stepping Stones and Button Bridge! Suitable for anyone over 1m tall and aged between 4-10 years old.
Things to do in Dalby Forest:
Dalby Forest, located in the North Yorkshire Moors, is famous for its fierce terrains and far-reaching views which draw an international crowd.
With over 8000 acres of woodland to explore – there’s something to keep everyone entertained.
There are 13 walking trails, four running trails and six cycling trails. Bring or hire bikes as there’s 55 miles of cycle routes which range from family-friendly to highly technical and demanding routes.
There are two play areas to get the children blowing off steam and there’s much to be discovered in the Enchanted Wood.
Look out for the living willow arches, owl carvings, a mystical fort, giant insects and a spider in the trees. The whole family can put their map reading skills to the test as they tackle the Gruffalo Orienteering route.
There are picnic sites to enjoy some al fresco dining or grab a bite to eat and a drink in the café. Worried you won’t have time to fit it all in? Bring your tent as there are camping facilities.

How To Find Us
By Car:
From the South (York, Leeds):
Take the A64 towards Malton. From Malton, follow the A169 towards Pickering. In Pickering, take the A170 towards Scarborough. After about 1.5 miles, turn left onto the B1416 signposted for Dalby Forest. From the North (Teesside):
Take the A19 south towards Thirsk. At Thirsk, take the A170 east towards Scarborough. Continue on the A170 past Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside. Turn right onto the B1416 signposted for Dalby Forest.
By Train:
The nearest train station is in Malton or Scarborough. From Malton, you can take a bus or taxi to Pickering, then follow the directions below. From Scarborough, you can take a bus to Pickering.
By Bus:
Bus services from Scarborough, Malton, and Whitby stop at Pickering. From Pickering, you can take the Coastliner bus (840) to Thornton-le-Dale, then take a taxi or walk to Dalby Forest (approximately 2-3 miles).

Footwear must be sturdy and suitable for the outdoors. No sandals, slip off shoes, open toes or heels.
Wear sensible clothes for adventure and please ensure your midriff is covered.
Gloves are a good idea. Either bring a pair or you can buy them at the cabin on the day.
Go Ape is an excellent wet weather activity! The course remains open in all weathers, except when it is icy, stormy, in high winds or during lightning.
Rain makes the course muddier than usual – which all adds to the fun! Don’t forget to dress for the weather. Sometimes, unfortunately, Go Ape might need to close the course for reasons beyond our control, if this happens you will be given a full refund.
Please ensure you arrive for your Go Ape activity 15 minutes before your session begins.

All courses are designed to be accessible, but they do offer a degree of physical and mental challenge. This may mean additional equipment or adjustments to supervision.
