Explore one of the best days out in Cornwall at the Eden Project today
The Eden Project used to be a barren landscape – a former clay mine with no soil or plants – and has been transformed into a beautiful global garden. Opening in 2001, the Eden Project’s mission is to demonstrate and inspire positive action for the planet. The stage is set for an extraordinary day out for all ages where you’ll rediscover the natural world as you've never experienced it before.
Described as "a mind-boggling feat of architecture and biological engineering" by The Guardian, the Eden Project is a bucket list destination for any trip to the Southwest of England.
Explore massive, covered Biomes, experiencing the humid tropics of the breathtaking Rainforest as well as the temperate climate and calm fragrances of the Mediterranean. Enjoy extensive Outdoor Gardens, contemporary artworks, interactive exhibits, engaging storytelling and wild play. Discover places to rest, learn and eat, and pick up inspiring ideas to take home on how to care for the planet that cares for you.
A range of cafés and restaurants on-site offer delicious hot meals, light lunches, snacks and drinks. The food is responsibly sourced and freshly made, often in front of your eyes.
If you are visiting with children, the Eden Project has been designed with kids in mind: from baby changing facilities and pram-friendly pathways throughout the gardens to menus designed especially for kids. There is an array of dedicated play spaces, including Nature’s Playground – a spectacular natural adventure play area brimming with imaginative, sensory play – as well as hands-on exhibits and engaging activities throughout the site.
Important information:
- To tackle single-use coffee cups, Eden runs a reusable cup scheme: you can either borrow a reusable cup for a refundable deposit or get money off hot beverages if you bring your own reusable cup.
- The Rainforest Biome is humid and can reach 35˚C on hot days, so wearing layers and bringing a reusable water bottle with you to stay hydrated is recommended – there is free tap water available in multiple locations for refills.
- Allowing at least four hours for a visit is recommended, but ideally take a whole day to explore the vast Eden site. Last entry to the Eden Project is 1.5 hours before closing time.
