Visit Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats for some of the best animal experiences in Maidstone

After taking in two goats from the RSPCA, Robert Hitch established Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats shortly after, in 1989. Before long, injured goats began arriving in such numbers that the charitable status was sought in order to secure the long term future of the Sanctuary - and now, you're invited to meet the friendly residents!

"Lovely couple of hours spent relaxing amongst all the goats. The atmosphere is wonderful and you could honestly sit and watch them all day. Will happily come back with friends/family!"

The only registered Goat Charity in the United Kingdom

In September 2003, Buttercups became - and still is today - the only registered goat Charity in the UK whose sole aim is to provide relief to goats that have suffered or no longer have a home. Having rescued almost 1,000 goats, the Sanctuary is now a permanent home to around 120 furry, funny friends:

  • Enjoy the freedom to roam and relax amongst the goats and watch them in their natural habitats in the 'Goats Only' areas
  • Meet almost 120 resident goats at the family-friendly farm park
  • Learn about rescuing and rehoming goats and get the chance to adopt one
  • Find a comfortable spot and pet the goats, who never get tired of the attention
  • Enter the feeding area and feed the goats - an absolute must-do on your visit!
  • Swing by the Buttercups Tea Room for some hot & cold drinks, light snacks and sweet treats
  • Bring a family picnic and find the perfect picturesque spot to enjoy your homemade lunch

Please note: Goats with purple and red tags should not be fed by visitors. This is due to dietary restrictions.

"I just love sitting, petting the very happy goats. If you are ever stressed, it is the biggest stress reliver ever! Love that everything you spend money on will go towards looking after the goats. I will be visiting as often as possible."
