Easter Egg Hunt highlights:

  • For the Little Ones: Children will have a blast hunting for clues hidden throughout the picturesque Sculpture Garden. As they solve the seasonal puzzle, they'll be rewarded with a special Easter Egg from Burghley's very own Easter Bunny!
  • For the Grown-Ups: Adults can join in the fun too! Along the trail, there are tricky questions designed to challenge even the sharpest minds. Answer them correctly for a chance to win a delightful Afternoon Tea in The Orangery, entered into a special prize draw

By Public Transport:

Train: The closest train station is Stamford, approximately half a mile from the entrance to the Parkland and 1.5 miles to Burghley House.
Bus: Delaine bus services stop opposite the Main Visitor Entrance on Barnack Road. It's approximately 600m to The House entrance from here.

Where possible, Burghley House is accessible for wheelchair, mobility scooter and buggy users. 

  • Wheelchair users can access the State Rooms and Orangery Restaurant via Stannah stairlifts.
  • Wheelchair users must be able to transfer themselves from a wheelchair to the stairlift and back, unaided.
  • Hide & Secrets Adventure Play has been designed with accessibility in mind. Accessible ramps and turning circles provide level access to the lower levels of the Hidden Towers and Under 5s play structures where specially designed interactive play features are in place. One of the look-out platforms across the gorge has ramp access. All pathways have been designed to be wheelchair-friendly.
  • The Sculpture Garden has paths that are gravel, and some open areas of the Gardens are very uneven without pathways. 
  • The Courtyard and Garden Shops have ramp access.
  • Disabled parking and toilet facilities are available onsite. 

Dogs, other than assistance dogs, are not permitted in the House, Gardens, Adventure Play, restaurants or shops.  Dogs on leads are welcome in the Parkland and in the outdoor seating area at the Garden Café.

Opening times for 2025 are as follows:

  • House Open Season – 15th March to 2nd November 2025
  • Gardens & Adventure Play Open Season – 15th February to 16th November 2025

There are a range of eateries onsite at Burghley House. 

  • The Orangery Restaurant: Enjoy locally-sourced dishes, including delicious breakfasts, seasonal lunch menus and luxury afternoon teas.
  • The Garden Cafe: Freshly-made barista coffee, light lunches, homemade cakes and children's lunchboxes. 
  • The Potting Shed: Grab a hot drink or delicious ice-cream. Open weekends and during holidays. 
  • The Muddy Mole: Tasty hot dogs, snacks, hot and cold drinks to takeaway. 

You are also welcome to bring your own food for picnics in the Parkland. 

Barbecues and open fires are not permitted. 

Please note: Burghley House is a cashless site. 

Smoking and vaping are not permitted in visitor areas.

The water features in the Garden of Surprises are not designed for water play.

For the safety of visitors, Burghley may have to close at short notice due to high winds or extreme weather. Please check the weather and website before travelling.
