How to find us

By Car:

Alton Towers Resort is located between the M1 and the M6 motorways in Staffordshire, England.

Depending on your direction, the nearest motorway exits are:

  • M1 Northbound – Junction 23a
  • M1 Southbound – Junction 28
  • M6 Northbound – Junction 15
  • M6 Southbound – Junction 16

Please drive carefully in the area, as roads can be narrow, and there are pedestrians, cyclists, and horse riders.

Some Sat-Nav systems may take you down a local farm track, so follow road signs for the last few miles.

By Train:

  • Uttoxeter Train Station is the nearest station to Alton Towers (10 miles away).
  • Stoke-on-Trent Station (15 miles away) and Derby Train Station (25 miles away) are also options.

From these stations, you can take a taxi or bus to the resort.

By Bus:

  • D&G Bus operates the X41 service from Stafford, Uttoxeter, and Alton Towers Resort.
  • Notts & Derby buses run the X52 service between Nottingham, Derby, and Alton Towers.

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own picnics to Alton Towers Resort. 

Bags are allowed, but will be searched upon entrance to Alton Towers Resort. Please refrain from bringing any of the prohibited items below: 

  • Any item deemed to be a weapon
  • Fireworks and/or smoke bombs
  • Glass bottles or other articles which may cause injury and/or be deemed offensive or dangerous
  • Sharp objects or anything which may be considered a security risk including knives, penknives, scissors, corkscrews, metal nail files, toy or replica guns.
  • Intoxicating liquor
  • Illegal substances and/or legal highs
  • Skateboards, scooters and rollerblades
  • Drones

Dogs and all animals are prohibited from entry into Alton Towers Resort, with the exception of guide and assistance dogs. 

You're advised to arrive early at Alton Towers, so you can spend the full day there and make the most of the site's 40 rides and 500 acres of fun!
