There's so many things to do at Western Approaches Museum
Once a WW2 top secret HQ bunker at the heart of the war-defining Battle of the Atlantic, the venue is now home to the Western Approaches Museum - a secret time capsule hidden beneath the city streets of Liverpool.
With everything left just the way it was in 1945, you'll see original documents, tools and maps used to analyse enemies during the tumultuous time of WW2, along with one of just two surviving phones that had a direct line to the War Rooms of Winston Churchill.
- Walk through the hidden rooms and discover the stories locked away in the WWII bunker.
- Experience the bunker that protected the British Armed Forces tactics and aided Allied victory.
- Get a glimpse of the top secret documents that were hidden from enemy eyes for years.
- Witness the tools the Forces used to monitor enemy convoys and inform the British government of their findings
- See one of only two surviving wartime phones that were directly connected to the London War Cabinet.
- Observe where Commanders, WRNS & WAAF personnel worked day & night in the Operations Room
- Learn about how convoy routes and vital shipping lines were monitored
- Look at the huge map wall where the Forces would pin-point enemies with total accuracy
"This is an outstanding museum and well worth making the effort to see it. Essential viewing for the younger generations who need to learn about what happened in WWII. Beautifully presented and maintained you really do get a great sense of how it was 85 years ago. Highly Recommend!" - TripAdvisor
