Walking along Portugal Street in London, the sounds emanating from the Peacock Theatre will have you convinced there’s a world different to our own going on inside. The tapping feet of elegant dancers are easily mistaken as the soft patting of rain hitting the floor.

Swooshing dresses following spinning performers become the gentle rustle of wind swaying a summer treetop. And do you hear those branches breaking? Well, that sound is just that actually, Shaolin Monks break wooden staffs off their bodies - unbelievable human will and strength blending into one.

A history of diversity

With performances in their past like Message in a Bottle and SHAOLIN, the Peacock Theatre celebrates what it means to be creative, encompassing everything from elegant dances to the eastern philosophies.

The Jekyll and Hyde of the West End

The Peacock Theatre lives a “Jekyll and Hyde existence”. In the daytime, it's a venue for lectures for the London School of Economics before letting its hair loose in the evening and becoming the host of incredible stage performances.

Maybe if you get there early enough, there’ll be a quick lesson about the distribution of wealth before the performance begins.

However, we think Dr Jekyll likes to keep his two personalities quite distinct. Plus, we can’t imagine the lecturers would be too happy with you turning up mid-lesson as anyone who’s arrived late to class knows.

The Snowman’s home for Christmas

There are two famous snowmen in our minds, and let's just say it’s not Frosty who’s making the Peacock his home. The Snowman is taking over the Peacock Theatre this Christmas period and is bound to be just as magical as the original film.
