Meandering its way through 200 miles of the most spectacular countryside in the UK, the Shropshire Way welcomes travellers looking to spend some time discovering this marvellous county.

Whether you’re up for an hour, a day, or a week of walking – the route is split into different sections, giving walkers of all abilities a chance to see the trail.

Just bring along a map, your trail marked out, and a good pair of shoes, and you’re set.

Your adventure starts now!

So where will you begin? Perhaps you’ll take a wander through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB)? Beside the craggy rocks of the Stiperstones and along the Long Mynd, where hilltops sweep down into valley bottoms.

Much of the southern part of the Shropshire Way is blessed with the natural beauty of the county.

Along the northern section, along with the nature, the trail passes through many of the county’s old towns and villages; beside canals and through marshes.

If you happen to live in Shropshire, you might be lucky enough to have a section of the path on your doorstep, where you walk the dog or get some much-needed fresh air.

Why not extend that walk slightly? Pack a bag with some water and snacks, pull on your comfiest shoes and keep a waterproof handy.

Planning on staying a while?

If you’re coming from slightly further afield, there are plenty of places to stop the night along the route. From hotels and B&Bs to hostels and campsites – whatever you’re up for, you’ll find it along the Shropshire Way.

Start your adventure small to begin with. Take on a little section of the route and make it back home in time for a warm dinner. Then, go slightly further, perhaps extend your walk over the weekend.

From there, see where the adventure takes you. Let your feet lead the way and don’t forget to stop now and again, the Shropshire countryside deserves every bit of your attention.
