Gin at the Castle

What could be better than having a few sips of gin? Having a few sips of gin in the distilleries of a Gothic castle of course!

At Hensol Castle Distillery, you get to head on a historical gin tour in the cellars of an old castle for a gin tasting experience like no other. Better yet, you can make your own!

So pour your glasses and then get ready to be sent back in time to the 17th century for one of the ultimate gin experiences in all of Wales!

Tour through time

The Gin Distillery Tour is an hour and a half tour that takes you from the earliest years of the building of the castle to the origins of gin and to how the two combined to give you the tour you're heading on today.

Not only will you get a guided tour on the history of the castle and gin, you'll also get to look around the unique sensory botanical room. Here you can touch, smell and hear about the 100 different botanicals from all corners of the world.

And of course, the tour involves that ever so special taste of gin that really keeps you hooked! You can even grab another at the end of your tour at the castle's special Gin Bar.

Be the brewer

If you're eager to have a go at making your own gin, then go for the Gin Making Experience to have a crack at the brewing yourself!

Spend two and a half hours working on your own 70cl bottle to a specific recipe of your choosing. You'll start off with a behind-the-scenes tour of Hensol Castle before a bit of gin tasting and then at last, the gin making itself.

There will be expert distillers about to help you perfect your gin, before you finally have your own personalised flavour just for you. Not bad at all!

A Unique Welsh Drinking Experience

You'll have a hard time trying to find a gin tasting and making tour quite as exciting as this one! So if you're feeling in the mood for some gin, as well as a little bit of history, head down to Hensol Castle today and then sit back and sip away on your journey back in time!
