Most of the grounds are accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs, with accessible access up to the lawns in front of the Castle.
The path within the woodland is unmade and uneven in places but mostly suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs – please note this is dependent on the weather as the woodland paths can get muddy when wet.
The Castle has steps at the entrance up to the first floor and to access all floors within so is not suitable for wheelchairs and prams.
Lifting services can be booked for weddings and private events in the Castle in advance if required, please contact us for more information about this service.
Throughout its history, Hedingham Castle has witnessed various historical events, including the Anarchy, a civil war in the mid-12th century, and has welcome many notable guests including Henry VII and Queen Elizabeth I.
Today, it stands as a significant historical site and as a unique and memorable setting for weddings and events!
Dogs on leads are welcome onsite on the general admission days but not on event days, due to the presence of birds of prey and horses.
Please note that while dogs are allowed on site, they aren't not permitted inside the house or the castle.
