There's two family-friendly adventures you can expect at Go Ape Beechenhurst:
- Treetop Adventure: Designed for mini explorers and their families looking for their first big high ropes adventure. Suitable for anyone over 1m tall and aged between 4-6 years old.
- Treetop Adventure Plus: A step up from Treetop Adventure, perfect for those who have already gained confidence on the classic course or slightly older thrill-seekers. Suitable for anyone over 1.2m tall and aged between 6-10 years old.
Things to do in the Forest of Dean:
The ancient Forest of Dean is one of the few remaining royal forests in England. This mystical and magical setting inspired Tolkien's work, and is an unparalleled backdrop as you explore from your canopy high vantage point.
This forest is designed for family fun, so plan to spend a full day discovering all it has to offer. Walk, run, or cycle along the various routes suitable for all activities.
Explore the famous Sculpture Trail, a four-mile walk featuring sculptures by artists that interpret the forest environment and the history of this unique landscape!
After working up an appetite, head to the Beechenhurst Lodge Visitor Centre, which offers a café, a children’s play area, and a climbing tower.
If you're up for more adventure after visiting Beechenhurst, explore the secret world beneath the forest at Clearwell Caves, which boasts nine show caverns with plenty to discover.

How To Find Us
By Car:
Do not follow the brown Go Ape signs. Beechenhurst Lodge is in Forest Of Dean.
Travelling from Coleford to Cinderford on the B4226, continue by the junction with the B4234 (Parkend to Lydbrook road) driving up the Speech House Road for 500m before turning left into Beechenhurst.
Please don’t use their postcode in your Sat-Nav! Due to the rural nature of the locations, postcodes are not always accurate when using Sat-Nav directions.
It will take you to Broadwell near Coleford, this is on the B4226 but a few minutes drive away from Beechenhurst. Please always cross reference with a map.
By Train:
The nearest railway station is at Lydney Station which is approximately 8½ miles from Beechenhurst Lodge

Footwear must be sturdy and suitable for the outdoors. No sandals, slip off shoes, open toes or heels.
Wear sensible clothes for adventure and please ensure your midriff is covered.
Gloves are a good idea. Either bring a pair or you can buy them at the cabin on the day.
Go Ape is an excellent wet weather activity! The course remains open in all weathers, except when it is icy, stormy, in high winds or during lightning.
Rain makes the course muddier than usual – which all adds to the fun! Don’t forget to dress for the weather. Sometimes, unfortunately, Go Ape might need to close the course for reasons beyond our control, if this happens you will be given a full refund.
Please ensure you arrive for your Go Ape activity 15 minutes before your session begins.

All courses are designed to be accessible, but they do offer a degree of physical and mental challenge. This may mean additional equipment or adjustments to supervision.
