This Staffordshire activity centre hits all the buttons for fun and adventure amidst the stunning natural beauty of Cannock Chase forest.
Here you'll find the longest combined crossing of any Go Ape location with nearly 1,500 metres of tree-to-tree crossings, all in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Choose from one of four exciting outdoor activities in Cannock Chase:
- Treetop Challenge: An exhilarating high ropes course with epic zip lines. Suitable for anyone over 1.4m tall and aged at least 10 years old.
- Treetop Adventure: Entry-level outdoor activities for beginners. Suitable for anyone over 1m tall and aged between 4-6 years old.
- Treetop Adventure Plus: Like Treetop Adventure but taller and more of a challenge for bigger kids. Suitable for anyone over 1.2m tall and aged between 6-10 years old.
- Forest Segways: Explore Cannock Chase forest on heavy-duty all-terrain segways. Suitable for all ages.

Mainland Britain's smallest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty promises a big adventure for the whole family to enjoy. Just an hour's drive from Birmingham, there's no better place nearby to get away from the city than at Cannock Chase.
After you've climbed your way around the trees at Go Ape, you can explore the woodland on one of many hiking trails. Hire a bike or bring your own to enjoy the cycling and MTB trails.
There's something for all ages and abilities, from family rides through picturesque valleys to the dedicated single-track of Follow the Dog and The Monkey Trail. There are also dedicated children's play areas, play houses, fairy trees and a Gruffalo walking trail. There are even activity trails for your dogs to enjoy!

How to find us
By car:
Cannock Go Ape is located at Birches Valley Forest Centre (not the Marquis Drive visitor centre). Birches Valley Forest Centre is just two miles from Rugeley, where Birches Valley road meets Penkridge Bank road.

From any direction, follow the small brown directional tourist signs.
- From the M6 or Cannock: Follow the A460 towards Rugeley. The brown signs with the deer logo direct along the A460 through Hednesford to a left turn onto Station Road by a Chase Car Sales. Immediately you will go over the railway bridge to a set of traffic lights. Turn right onto Brindley Heath Road. After two miles you will reach a crossroads, turn right onto Birches Valley. In two miles you will reach Birches Valley Visitor Centre.
- From Rugeley: From Globe Island in Rugeley town centre, take Western Springs Road towards Stafford for 400 yards and turn left at the traffic lights, as directed by the brown sign onto Hagley Road. Follow this road, which becomes Penkridge Bank as the houses of Rugeley gives way to the lush greenery of Cannock Chase.
By train:
Public transport is available from Stafford, Cannock and Rugeley. Either Rugeley Trent Valley, Rugeley Town or Hednesford stations are closest. From here, you can get a taxi to Cannock Chase.

Footwear must be sturdy and suitable for the outdoors. No sandals, slip off shoes, open toes or heels.
Wear sensible clothes for adventure and please ensure your midriff is covered.
Gloves are a good idea. Either bring a pair or you can buy them at the cabin on the day.
Go Ape is an excellent wet weather activity! The course remains open in all weathers, except when it is icy, stormy, in high winds or during lightning.
Rain makes the course muddier than usual – which all adds to the fun! Don’t forget to dress for the weather. Sometimes, unfortunately, Go Ape might need to close the course for reasons beyond our control, if this happens you will be given a full refund.
Please ensure you arrive for your Go Ape activity 15 minutes before your session begins.

All courses are designed to be accessible, but they do offer a degree of physical and mental challenge. This may mean additional equipment or adjustments to supervision.
