The Foundling Museum is a truly unique place to visit in London as one of the best things to do in Bloomsbury for anyone looking for a fascinating day out.
The museum tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, Britain's first home for abandoned children. Through the work of the Hospital, hope was brought to the lives of many children at risk. The site was even supported by notable figures such as artist William Hogarth and composer George Frideric Handel in providing a safe haven and nurturing environment for vulnerable children.
Over 275 years later, the Foundling Museum brings to life the countless stories of the Hospital and its enduring legacy on child welfare. As well as bringing the Hospital's story to life, you'll also be captivated by the courtroom's stunning Rococo interiors, the impressive art collection including paintings from the likes of Hogarth, Gainsborough, Reynolds, Roubiliac and more, plus a permanent Handel exhibition.
