Whether it’s the sea’s soft call which draws you in, or the sand dunes rolling away like a miniature mountain range, Dyfi National Nature Reserve is set to become your new favourite adventure spot.
Up and down the dunes
Bring the pup along for the trip because you and your four-legged friend will equally adore exploring the sand dunes of Ynyslas.
There are a few different walking trails to head off on if you’re up for a planned route.
The Dune and Ynyslas Walks are both graded easy, perfect for a stroll without worrying too much about navigating the way.
A trip through the dunes is a delightful inevitability on both walks, but along the Ynyslas route you’ll also discover the saltmarshes, seashore, and remarkable views of the Dyfi Estuary in the distance.
Taking your own path
The trails both start at the beach car park.
But don’t be surprised if you take a spontaneous detour; trails wind their way all over the dunes and invite you down one way before calling you along another.
Between October till the end of March you’ll have to keep the dog on the lead.
But other than that, if you find yourself in a quiet spot and your furry friend is well-trained, let them do some off-lead exploring for themselves.
Secret life of the bog
Just over the way from Ynyslas Beach, you’ll discover the unique world of Cors Fochno, otherwise known as Borth Bog.
There’s a misconception about bogs really - some of the rarest and most wonderful wildlife can be found at them.
While peregrine falcons and red kites glide above the dunes, you can also discover the impressive life of the area when you look down.
Along the circular boardwalk wrapping around the edge of the bog, the mosses and invertebrates you’ll spot are incredibly rare.
This route is just for people though - save bringing the doggo for your adventure at the beach.
A day of simple pleasures
You could spend a whole day simply walking around and taking in the unique landscapes of Dyfi National Nature Reserve, so why not?
Clear the calendar, there’s an adventure waiting to begin.
