Famous for its three bridges, beautiful waterfalls and enchanting surroundings, the Devil's Bridge is often regarded as one of the best things to do near Aberystwyth, and it's easy to see why when you embark on the "Nature Trail, Waterfalls & Three Bridges" walk. 

You'll start your walk with a spectacular view of the renowned three bridges, one on top of the other, before heading down an ancient oak woodland path deep into the Rheidol Gorge. At this point, there is a viewing gazebo of the astounding 300ft Mynach Waterfalls that tower over the site. 

Once you've taken some epic photos, head further down the gorge to "Jacob's Ladder", a flight of 100 steps to the foot of site. This is then followed by the "Humped Bridge" which takes you to the other side of the gorge to begin your trek upwards. From here, there are numerous stopping places where you can rest and enjoy the stunning views of the Devil's Bridge waterfalls on the way back. 

After your walk, relax and enjoy a picnic or a stop at the tearoom and take in the gorgeous surroundings of the area! How to find us

By car:

  • From the East (Shropshire, Midlands, Worcester, Manchester, Brecon, Rhayder, Newtown, Llandovery, Builth Wells): Head towards Aberystwyth on the A44 until you see the turning to Devil’s Bridge A4120. Turn left and follow the road until you see the car park on your left.
  • From the North (Machynlleth, Anglesey, Dolgellau, Tywyn, Borth): Head towards Aberystwyth on the A487. Before reaching Aberystwyth, turn left onto the A4159 for three miles, then at the mini round about turn left onto the A44. At Ponterwyd turn right onto the A4120. Follow this road for three miles until you reach the carpark on the left.
  • From the South (Aberaeron, Cardigan, Carmarthen, Swansea, Cardiff): Follow the coastal road A487 until you reach the outskirts of Aberystwyth. Turn Right onto the A4120 to Devil’s Bridge and continue on for 12 miles.  On reaching the village you will pass the steam train station and Hafod Hotel. Bear left and cross over the bridge. The car park is 100m on your right.

By steam train: 

The Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway runs from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge. From the station it is a five minute walk to the Waterfalls attraction. Turn left out of the car park, pass the Hafod Hotel and bear left over the bridge. The entrance kiosk is on the left.

Yes, dogs are allowed at Devil's Bridge Falls, but it should be kept on a lead and be fit enough to cope with all the steps.

It is recommended that you wear walking shoes or trainers, since the Waterfalls Nature Trail path is rough and uneven. 

It is recommended for you to spend at least 45 minutes for the walk.

Some people can do it quicker, but if you are taking photos and enjoying the scenery then allow some extra time. Other people find the walk very challenging and it takes them over an hour. Your fitness levels and health play a big part in how long the walk takes.

Yes, the walk is safe, but for your own safety, it is not advised that you visit the nature trail waterfalls walk during high winds or when the paths are icy. Please check the weather forecast before you visit.
