Climb Cutty Sark with the Rig Climb Experience in London

For the first time since 1954, you're invited to climb the majestic masts of Cutty Sark and enjoy unparalleled views of London's beautiful skyline from one of the most unique viewing points in London! Head to the highest point of the ship with your expert guide and get ready to embark on one of the most exciting things to do in the capital city:

  • Be introduced to the beautiful and historical ship with a briefing on the timeless hull 
  • Head up to the Main Deck and climb onto the ships rope ladders
  • Join hundreds of sailors from the past as you carefully climb the rigging 
  • Be greeted by unmatched views of the River Thames when you reach the top 
  • Enjoy a drink and a break whilst watching the hustle and bustle of the capital city 
  • Embark upon one final challenge; the Lower Topsail Yard! Hold on tight as you shuffle along the footrope

The Cutty Sark Rig Climb Experience is available for anyone over 10 years old. Children between 10-17 require parental consent and at least one accompanying adult. One adult can supervise up to 5 children. 

As long as you are fit and healthy, you are able to participate in the climb. 

The Rig Climb at Cutty Sark is open every weekend from 22nd June until 31st October.

  • Climbs are available from 10am-4pm during normal opening hours.

Participants on the Rig Climb Experience must be:

  • At least 1.2m tall/3ft9in tall.
  • Less than 21st (130kg) in weight.
  • Harnesses have a maximum waist width of 130cm/51.1in and a maximum thigh width of 75cm/29.5in.
