How To Find Us

By car:

Please use address The Historic Dockyard, Chatham, Kent ME4 4TZ

Follow the Brown tourist signs (anchor) from Junctions 1, 3 and 4 of the M2 and Junction 6 of the M20.

They have plenty of car parking spaces with no height restrictions. Motorhomes are welcome but please note that these cannot be parked overnight.

There are dedicated parking bays for Blue Badge Holders and EV charging points available.

By Train:

The Historic Dockyard Chatham’s nearest train station is Chatham Station which is regularly served by Southeastern High Speed travelling to/from London St Pancras as well as regular services via London Victoria and Charing Cross.

By Bus:

The Historic Dockyard is served by a number of local bus services currently operated by Arriva buses.

The distance between the main entrance and the furthermost gallery is approximately 800 metres. The Historic Dockyard Chatham have worked with AccessAble to create access guides around the whole site, and they have a ‘Changing Places’ facility.

The route between the galleries and ships has a fairly even surface with the ground sloping down from east to west. Guests are welcome to bring any type of mobility vehicle. 

There are accessible toilets located throughout the site at the following locations:

  • Thunderbolt Pier
  • Outdoor Play Area
  • No.1 Smithery
  • Mess Deck
  • Steam, Steel & Submarines.

One personal assistant is permitted free entry if you are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment.

Yes, dogs are allowed on site, but not in the galleries and eating areas.

Yes! Parking is free on site.

They also have disabled parking in the main car park within easy reach of the admission point, please display your Blue Badge clearly.
