Castell Cricieth, or Criccieth Castle, makes for one of the must visit attractions in North Wales. Located in the charming small town of Criccieth, with a population of just over 1,700 people, the site provides stunning vistas of the town and bay as you explore the town's famous landmark.
Discover centuries of history as you enter through the gatehouse, flanked by massive D-shaped stone towers. Originally created by Llywelyn ap Iorwerth, the castle was later captured and altered by Edward I in his conquest of Wales before being besieged and heavily damaged in a revolt let by Owain Glyndŵr in 1404.
After years of ruin, the castle has been restored and now stands tall over the stunning coastline. Climb to the top of the castle for some truly breath-taking panoramic views of Cardigan Bay.

Criccieth Castle was besieged and damaged in 1294-1295 during an unsuccessful revolt by Madog ap Llywelyn. It was then captured after being burned and heavily damaged in another revolt attempt led by Owain Glyndŵr.
