Things to do at Weekly Muddy Meetups in Inverness
Enjoy a fantastic opportunity for preschool children, parents and guardians to experience a real working farm during quiet hours:
- Meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am - 12pm (Allows for flexible arrival and departure to suit nap times)
- Enjoy crafting and listening to stories during a structured learning hour at 10am
- Each weekly structured learning hour will be related to a different craft, story and sensory activity
- Experience a real working farm in a safe and controlled environment
- Children are invited to learn about what has been happening on the farm
- See and feed the animals in the animal paddocks
- Play in the enclosed play paddock and undercover play area
- Each term, the children can enjoy learning about different animals, farm machinery, farm wildlife and the life of a farmer
- Sessions aim to encourage children to think about and understand where their food comes from in a fun, interactive and informal way
- The team will aim to provide children with what they want, so if there is something your child would really like to see, feel free to ask!
- Feeling peckish? Swing by the onsite coffee bar and treat yourself to a range of sweet treats, savoury bites and hot and cold beverages

Byres Farm is primarily wheelchair-accessible, but please bare in mind that the ground can get quite muddy during the rainy seasons.
However, the team have tried their best to have solid surfaces around the venue.
Byres Farm is suitable for all ages! With activities for children and experiences for adults, it's a great day out in Inverness for anyone between the ages of 1 - 100.
Dogs are more than welcome to join the circular walks, but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after.
Dogs are not allowed within the play areas or animal paddocks.
There is a self-service coffee shop onsite which provides drinks and light bites/snacks, but not meals.
However, you are invited and encouraged to bring your own picnic for lunch!
Animals at Byres Farm have feeding tubes in order to keep visitors safe. These animals are unable to be fed by visitors.
However, you are allowed to hand feed the goats and sheep, but the team would like to ensure that you wash your hands thoroughly after contact with them. There are multiple hand wash stations located onsite.
